The programs offers education, mindfulness and self-improvement training to adults aged 18 years and older who do not have their high school diplomas and are currently in the Ozaukee County Jail.
The OCJLP aims to help incarcerated adults learn skills to improve their literacy, achieve their GED or HSED certificates, and get a job. This helps improve students’ personal and employment potential and reduces the rate of recidivism.
The program serves approximately 30-40 students each year who are currently in the Ozaukee County Jail facility, and there are never more than 10 students in the classroom at any one time. This allows two instructors to provide one-on-one specialized instruction to each student during each class session. Students attend a total of 12 hours of classroom instruction each week, over the duration of three days.
OCJLP offers these programs and opportunities

What we do matters
“Not only have you changed my future, but also the future of my children. I can now provide a substantial living and further my education and give my children the encouragement and the confidence that you all have given me. It’s never too late to live.”
– Shelli, OCJLP student
“Along with the teachers and the selfless volunteers working here to help the students, I was given an opportunity to further my education. Thank to you, I now have my GED and am one step closer to going to college and attaining a degree in culinary arts.
– Adam, OCJLP student
